My local paper had an article yesterday stating that free credit reports will be available next week (AZ) and credit score access will be offered, for a small fee.

I have looked through the Act and I cannot find the relevant section. Does anyone have the cite handy? Thanks.

It indicates a toll free number that consumers can call and it provides a web site address that consumers can use. The toll free phone number is 1-877-322-8228. The web site address is www.annualcreditreport.com

Consumers living in the listed Western states can start ordering today. Other parts of the country will phase in between now and 9/1/05. See the link to the map in dpersfull's post above.

Can anyone access the Web site? I keep getting service not available - click here if you wish to register the domain site.

Dan, are you clicking the the link above, or typing the address into your browser? I've found that they do not allow weblinking to their site, so clicking the link won't work. When I type www.annualcreditreport.com in my browser, it comes up fine.

However, I imagine they are receiving a ton of traffic today, so maybe that is part of the problem?

I just typed the web site address in my web browser and was able to access the site with no problem. I had to click on an Internet Explorer window that let me know I was about to access a secure site and then the web page appeared. A slightly different URL address was then displayed. Here is the URL address that appeared. https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

Don't click on this link because you'll get a security message that says they won't let you access the site that way.

I get caught in a google doloop whether I try to type or link. Guess I just can't get there from here!

Is it possible these addresses are somehow blocked for inquiries outside the "western" region until the implementation date of your region? IN is scheduled for 3/05. I don't see how this could be done, but guess it would be possible.

I had no problem getting in when I typed it in and we aren't scheduled until 3/05 either, so I don't think that's the problem.

I accessed it easily yesterday, but am getting the same message Dan gets today.

I had one of our New Mexico employees access the site about an hour ago and she was able to pull her report, no problem. I can get to it from Kansas, but the server is pulling a lot of traffic - I got in once and got told to try back later a couple of times.

I'm in Louisiana and got in quickly on the first try by typing the link.
