There is no requirement that you monitor, nor that the SM contact you. I think it is only to the banks benefit to have a tickler set up or to check regularly in the even of an early discharge.
We don't know yet what type of pricing the CRAs will have, but their info will come from the DMDC database. If you can check it directly, I would assume it would be less expensive. An advantage I see to the CRA is that an easy print out and you have your record retention. With batch processing that may be more difficult and time consuming.
