Q: How many BOLers does it take to change a lightbulb?

1 to change the lightbulb and post to the board that the bulb has been changed.

4 to respond and share similar experiences.

7 to caution about the dangers of changing lightbulbs.

27 to point out spelling errors and grammatical errors in postings about changing lightbulbs.

53 to flame the spell-checkers.

156 to write to the administrator to complain about the lightbulb discussion and its inappropriateness to the board.

111 to defend the relevance of the lightbulb discussion.

27 to post website addresses where one can see different examples of lightbulbs.

14 to complain that the website addresses are incorrect and post correct ones.

12 to "leave the board forever" because they can't handle the lightbulb controversy.

OK, not really. Just saw this somewhere and thought it was funny. Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone!

Perhaps we should have a separate forum for lightbulbs.

What about the select group of BOLers that will comment on the virtues of using lightbulbs of various colors or lightbulbs made with unconventional materials (like duct tape)? Oh, yeah and those BOLers that will change thier pictures to various types of lightbulbs?

And 22 to warn that they were recently written up by examiners for not having up to date lightbulb changing policies and procedures.

Plus, a poll about whether or not a new forum was a good idea.

And a new card for the BOL eCard Exchange to commemorate the subject.

FYI -- Don't miss JulesB "all stuck up" in our new card! Postcards

Oh, how about the 2 or 3 BOLers who work for the Regulators and will discuss the impending regulations on lightbulbs. Don't forget the questions that will come, too, on whether or not those who change lightbulbs are subject to CIP, 314(a), OFAC, and so on. Speaking of questions, is an adverse action notice required to be sent to the manufacturer of the lightbulb if you buy a bulb, take it home, get ready to put it in a lamp, and discover that it's the wrong wattage (and has to be returned to the store)?

Where the heart is
Not to mention the many folks that would warn us about counterfeit lightbulbs in the latest Nigerian scam.

Hello - my name is Afhad Nousari. I am a middle level government offical in Nigeria and I was given your name as a trusted person. I and my associates are in control of a warehouse in Nigeria housing millions of light bulbs ordered under a government contract. These light bulbs were produced from an overage in a defense contract, the offical in charge of that contract now having fallen out of favor. If you would help us with access to a financial account in the United States, we will give you 30% of the expected proceeds from our internet auction of these light bulbs. Conservatively, we estimate these auctions should bring in the area of $100 million. Please respond post haste to our request so we may give you preferred consideration. Looking forward to a profitable relationship with you.

P.S. It is MOST important that you DO NOT inform your bank about the nature of this transactions as they may try and dissuade you from it in order for the bank to take the profit from you. There is most need you to be discreet and to give us your quick response.

Also keep in mind that lightbulbs you buy from the local stores must be available for illumination not later than the second business day after installing the bulb.

How about 1 anonymous poster unable to use the "search" feature who posts a new question the following week "Anyone have a reference for lighbulbs?".

I know that HUD issued a new proposed regulation for comment regarding lightbulbs in 1994. Has anyone seen a copy of the final rule????

How about 1 BOL user not understanding how this "lightbulb" thing fits into Louisiana's Napolonic law? After all, we don't have lightbulbs yet, just oil lamps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And 3 posts to review the CRA implications:
"Lightbulbs provided to LMI persons for 1- to 4- family homes will not qualify for community development donation or service credit although providing a loan to construct a lightbulb facility in a LMI tract would be considered as a community development loan provided sufficient documentation could be presented to indicate the facility revitalized or stabilized a LMI area or created or retained jobs for displaced lightbulb workers."

What about Flood? For lightbulbs being placed in a SFHA, not only should you obtain flood insurance, but you should also use floodlights.

Don't forget...

If you receive more than 10,001 lightbulbs, you need to file a LTR.

If you receive less than 10,000 lightbulbs on a frequent basis from the same person...I'd file a LSAR.

And since Andy has more than 5000 lightbulbs, he should have his own "bat signal" light like Batman does!

A consumer lightbulb activist posts on BOL a complaint about our lightbulb practices. In response, 88 BOL posters chatter endlessly, discussing in front of the whole-wide-world all our lightbulb practices, processes, fears, and vulnerabilities. Gets the attention of web surfing consumer bulb groups who contact a bulb-friendly Congressman, and Voila! - - public hearings and new adverse lightbulb legislation! [rant in disguise]

And be sure to update your Disaster Recovery plan to account for any lightbulb outages that may cause an interruption of bank operation.

And there will be the post asking for opinions about the best training sessions available to cover the regulations relating to lightbulbs . . .

As well as questions about how hard it is to get your CRLM certification.
