Draft Invitee Makes Child's wish come true! When Aaron Curry realized he’d be one of nine players invited to the NFL draft, he knew he’d put on an expensive suit and surround himself with his family on one of the biggest days of his life
The Wake Forest linebacker wanted to do something unique, too.
Curry wound up at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., on Monday. In a prearranged meeting set up by his agent and hospital officials, Curry told wide-eyed, 12-year-old Bryson Merriweather he wanted a tour of the place.
The boy had spent the better part of two years there undergoing five rounds of chemotherapy for leukemia, which is now in remission.
“We were acting like he was just taking me on a regular tour around the hospital,” Curry said. “Toward the end we ended up outside tossing each other a football and I just started talking about the draft.
“He said he had seen it and I was telling him that I had been invited and if he would join me in this experience. So I said, ‘So come to New York with me and get drafted into the NFL.”’ We need more media attention to these kinds of things instead of all the coverage of DUIs, domestic abuse allegations, etc.

That is nice to see. I doubt the Bengals will be interested in him though...

Perhaps if he were to raid the pharmacy while at the Hospital, he might get a phone call from the Bengals.

Maybe the operative thing here is that Aaron Curry is still a College Player - he hasn't been drafted yet, has he........

One more link -> St. Jude Perhaps it's because my daughter is a Make-A-Wish kid, or perhaps I'm a sap, but I love these stories that show a renewed faith in people.

We were at Disney last week, and I was surprised to see how many "make a wish" families were there. Each one was identified with matching make a wish t-shirts, they had a personal escort from a disney employee (the disney employee was professionally dressed in a suit), and they were escorted to the front of the line for each ride or attraction. No one complained about this at all, and I had the opportunity to talk with one young girl while we were waiting. She was an amazing child, so mature for her age.

Happy, that was where we went on N's wish trip. It was an amazing experience. Make a Wish made it possible and Give Kids the World (the place where we stayed) made us feel like family. If ever anyone is looking for a charity to support (see the tax poll), this amazing "village" is certainly worthy: ...to make a vow that no child in need would ever be failed again. That man was Henri Landwirth [a survivor of Auschwitz and Matthausen]...Landwirth enlisted the support of colleagues in the hospitality industry, including our world-famous theme parks, to assist him in bringing these special families to Central Florida within 24 hours if need be. He called the project “Give Kids The World,” because that is just what he intended to do - provide memorable, magical, cost-free experiences to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Today the Village is a 70-acre resort complete with over 100 Villa accommodations, entertainment attractions, whimsical venues, and fun specifically designed for children with special needs...With the help of many generous individuals, corporations and partnering wish-granting organizations, Give Kids The World has welcomed more than 93,000 families from all 50 states and over 65 countries. Each special needs child is given a star, when they arrive. And during their stay the "star fairy" hangs the star for them on the ceiling of the castle. Seeing the 90,000+ stars at the Castle of Miracles was humbling, knowing that each represents a child like our own.
