FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
I chaperoned our youth last night at the Skillet/Toby Mac Concert in Tallahassee. It was fabulous!! If you have a chance to see them - GO! although I am so very tired today..... It was worth it!

Way, way south.
We attended Toby Mac's show last year and it was great.

I am not familiar with Toby Mac but I love Skillet!! Since they crossed over and get played frequently on the rock station I listen to I have truly come to love their music.

(The DJs on my rock channel also moonlight on the Christian rock station. So they play a lot of these bands such as Skillet and Decypher Down on my regular rock channel and I get to hear bands I probably never would have heard of.)

Does Toby Mac have the same rock sound?

Awesome! That would've been a great concert! My son and I would've loved it! I've got both Toby and Skillet on my ipod, so I listen to them frequently!

How fun!

No, Toby Mac (formerly of DC Talk) uses more hip-hop and r&b elements in his music.

if you're looking for more Christian bands with a similar sound to Skillet and Decyfer Down, check out either Red or Fireflight.

Thanks Jac. I am also familiar with Red. Love them too!

I am a long time fan of (mostly old school now) rap and R&B but I am in (what I call) my dark days now so the harder the rock the better! So I was wondering if there was someone new I should check out!

The concert was started by a band I wasn't familiar with - Heros in the House. they rocked like skillet. Skillet had pyrotechnics in their performance and their drummer - man - she could hold her own against anyone!

I do love Toby Mac! He was in the audience and all over the place - their show more physical - lots of dancing, light shows, and such.

The kids didn't sit at all during the concert and those concrete stands were shaking from however many thousands of them were there - jumping up and down almost constantly.

Saw Toby Mac a couple of times. Great shows both. He couldn't touch Third Day, who were the headliners @ both shows, but that's only my opinion.

Do you mean House of Heroes?

If so- I highly recommend them. HoH tops my list of current favorites by a long shot!

You must. I've seen them 4 or 5 times. They're from Atlanta, walden.. their hometown shows are the best.

Third Day is very good in concert. Saw them several years ago with Michael W. Smith.

I've met Walden many times and you're right - never took her for a rocker either.

So I got a gift cert on Itunes, which of these groups do y'all recommend?

I am not too excited about hip hop since I tyically can't understand what they are saying...

What is this House of Heroes all about?

Chris Tomlin and Toby Mac are coming to the Zoo Amphitheatre in June. Our Praise Team is already planning a road trip!

<--- going to see Casting Crowns with the Mrs. in April. My preference is more to Southern Gospel Quartets, but saw an abbreviated Casting Crowns show last year at the Franklin Graham Crusade in Charleston and I like them too.

My son wants to go to the Skillet concert this weekend, but he's already committed to a part in a play that is coming down to the wire. He also likes Disciple, Underoath, August Burns Red, Red, Fireflight, etc. I can only listen for a little while before I need to go back to Casting Crowns, Third Day, David Crowder Band, etc. I have never liked metal, but if he likes that style I don't mind him listening as long as I know the message is a good one.

Forgot Anberlin.

Pale- House of Heroes has a sound that I'd describe as Weezer meets The Beatles, with just a dash of Green Day. Lyrically, they are remarkable storytellers- their songs tend to be allegorical.

East Tex- Skillet is at the mellow end of your son's playlist. wink
