The hills around us broke up most of the bad stuff, just a lot of rain and some straight-line winds. Fortunately no tornados.
But with all the rain we have had, it made the roots of the trees easy to pull up, so many power lines down.

We're still under a severe storm warning and tornado watch.  Everyone is taking it a lot more seriously than usual, since 12 days ago this area got hit really hard with tornadoes. The system should be moving through here (central NC) in the next few hours.

Numerous areas around me are wiped out. Looks like a war zone. I suspect the death toll will be in the hundreds. I feel so blessed that my immediate family survived. Still trying to check on some extended family in Cullman area.

Brenda, I hope that you're able to get in touch with them soon. I saw that the death toll in Alabama was at 130, but that they're expecting it to be a good bit higher

So weird, In Oklahoma, we are usually hammered this time of year and we have nearly nothing and you poor folks back east are just getting beat to pieces. Heart goes out to all affected and prayers for everones safety.

The state of Oklahoma has contracted with me to fly there next week to help ease the drought. I will be there for 4 days and it is very likely that it will rain HARD all 4 days.
Prayers go out to all those in the affected areas. Rain and wind here for the past week, but no major problems.

They just issued tornado warnings 25 miles north of here. This is just crazy weather, and it can just stop right now!

Central IL here- LOTS of rain, very cold and windy. Had some small tornados last week(damage, but no dead), but I think we are out of the woods.
Prayers to all those affected, especially in AL.

I was able to reach my family near Cullman, AL. They were at their daughter's house which had a safe shelter. Their home is damaged and they have lots of trees down, but they're OK.

I don't want a tornado, but we haven't seen a drop of rain since maybe december ( i remember a t-storm on christmas eve) We really could use the rain. I hope everyone stays safe!

I went home at lunch and the news was showing pictures on the map of all the different sitings of tornadoes. I was unreal from Louisiana on up how many they showed on there.
