I'm down there a lot for Giants games - is there something specific you are looking for? Activities? Restaurants? It is a fun area but even in July it will probably be pretty chilly in the evenings, FYI.

Alcatraz - we went to San Francisco in April. LOVED Alcatraz. Spent a day touring 4 wineries in Napa Valley - amazing. I went to Chinatown <husband in meetings> and we walked Fisherman's Wharf. We walked up to Haight-Ashbury, but that might not be your cup of tea.

Take a good pair of walking shoes, although the public transportation is wonderful. The architecture of the downtown area <we stayed at Union Square> was gorgeous.

La Taqueria in the Mission District. Best burrito I've ever had. The place looks like a dump, but it's fantastic.

The Ghirardhelli chocolate factory

Embarcadero/Fisherman's Wharf

Golden Gate Bridge

Alcatraz

Giants Game

Golden Gate Park

Lombard Street

Haight & Ashbury

Coit Tower

Trolley Ride...and maybe get some rice a roni! wink

I'll second this!

The Giants are not in town but you can take BART across the bay to see the A's if you want.

Being from NOLA you might not appreciate this place liek I do, btu I always tell people to go to Biscuits and Blues--restaurant and music venue near Union Square. Usually good bands, good food, cool vibe smile Rated #1 blues bar at some point...

Buscuits and Blues, San Francisco

Or a little north and see the Redwoods. We missed that, unfortunately - however we would love to go back some day.

P.S. Already tried Craigslist and got many responses from people I would consider a tad too eager...

I wish I had see this post earlier. I would have suggested having dinner at Ad Hoc in Yountville. Maybe some BBQ at Barber's Q. In San Francisco you would want to stop by the Ferry Building, especiall on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday when they have a farmer's market. A ferry trip to Sausalito or Tiburon is also nice. There are lots of great places to eat in the San Francisco Bay Area, so I could have made lots of suggestions. I hope you had a great time!

is the Wharf Pass a worthwhile purchase? We have 2 full days, then I'm on my own for another 2 next month.

Thanks in advance....
