We are in process of moving from an existing bank building to a new bank building. We will be moving our safe deposit boxes also. We are trying to find if there is a letter to send to our customers to tell customers that we are moving their boxes so that they might take anything fragile out of the boxes.

You need to check on your State law. For example, in Texas there are very strict requirements for moving SD boxes under non-emergency conditions.

Quote:

Be sure not to disclose the specific date or time of the move for security purposes.

Be careful making such general statements that may lead to someone violating State laws.

For example, in Texas ยง59.107. Non-emergency Opening and Relocation:

(c) Not later than the 30th day before the scheduled date of a nonemergency relocation, the safe deposit company shall give notice of the relocation to each lessee of the safe deposit box. The notice must state the scheduled date and time of the relocation and whether the box will be opened during the relocation.

Yikes - thanks Randy, I have edited that out of my post.

What were they thinking when they wrote that law though? Sure seems like a robbery invite.

They want the customer to be able to show up and witness the move process to make sure there is no hanky panky - needless to say that moves of SDs in Texas require a number of well armed guards to assist in the process

Aren't all of your staff armed down there?

I have my carry permit

I like it when I work in the banks that are country casual - one of my smaller firearms fits nicely in the top of my cowboy boot.

Do they actually call it "country casual"?

Well - they don't really call it that. It's just casual business wear. Of course, I use to do oil and gas industry fraud audits also, so I have steel toed boots and a hard hat in my repertoire also. On a couple of those I relied on a couple of armed ex-Texas rangers in those instances

The closest I got to anything like that was remotely handling a workout loan of an oil well repair company in Shreveport. Nice owner who actually took over a bad loan. We finally worked together and got him refinanced with an SBA loan from a New Orleans bank and we got a small recovery.

But I did it all from my office in NJ.

No hats, boots or guns involved on my end.

I do recall early on I was wondering why this guy was talking about "whales"! Of course I smacked myself when it dawned on me he was saying "wells". He was probably wondering what I was saying.
