I heard that the List of Providers was not going to be required anymore. Is this true? If so, when does it take place?

It does appear that the Approved Providers List has been omitted from the RESPA rules that become effective 1/1/10. However, there is a provision in the new RESPA rules for a new type of provider list. It is found in Appendix C (Instructions for completion of the GFE) under the heading of "Your Charges for All Other Settlement Services." Toward the end of the first paragraph, it states: "Where a loan originator permits a borrower to shop for third party settlement services, the loan originator must provide the borrower with a written list of settlement services providers at the time of the GFE, on a separate sheet of paper."
