I like banking and want to learn where my skills are best suited. Where can I learn more?

Answered by:

Question:
I’ve been in banking for a little while now and have found I really enjoy it. What I thought would be a short-term job is looking more and more like a viable long-term career choice. There are so many options though – banking covers so many topics! Is there anywhere I can find more general information, to see what interests me the most?
Answer:

Banking is very diverse! There are great career options in operations, lending, technology, or bank management, to name a few. Quite often, people gravitate to a certain area because of their natural skill sets or personalities, and banks love to promote from within!

Compliance is one such area to explore. It touches everything in banking, and you get to learn about all of it. The tasks you complete in any given bank job can be traced back to some law, regulation, or rule. Getting an overview of bank compliance, therefore, will give you a broad sense of what you might be interested in for a bank career.
