After opening accounts for DBA's, is it necessary to follow up with the business for new documentation after the business papers expire?

We follow up to make sure they are still licensed which allows them to transact business under that name. If they are not we give them the option of renewing their dba or closing the account.

Do you check the county website first to verify if they have renewed their license. If so, do you keep that as documentation of the verification?
Or do you go directly to calling the customer?
