We've had lots of discussion about certifications and continuing education credit hours, but it would be interesting to know what percentage of BOLers hold one or more certifications.

Are you certified?
CRCM
Multiple certifications
Working on it
Not at this time

OK, I have to say I'm not certified via the CRCM process, but I did take the commissioning exam for the FDIC and of course passed. That ought to count for something.

Can you add another option to the survey - not certified but certifiable - that's the one I'd check.

I am not a CRCM, but I am a CPA, not one of the options!

What about CCCO (Certified Consumer Compliance Officer) through America's Community Bankers. That's what I have but I'd really like CRCM certification, working on it!

I would really like to get my CRCM but my boss doesn't believe it is a necessary expense because I am a former examiner.

Check out ABA's website and go to ICB certifications, it will explain everything and they send you a great package.

Sorry, but I did the poll wrong.

I meant to isolate CRCM because I know many of our regulars have one. I didn't mean to leave out all the other professional designations by offering only "multiple" as the other choice. Sincere appologies to everyone who works very hard to maintain these designations.

At the risk of being shown to the front door, how about a second attempt to get this right. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Certification? (second try)
I hold one or more professional certifications
I'm working toward becoming certified
My kids or spouse say I'm certifiable
Not certified

*****RANT WARNING*****

Though I'm fully certifiable (many people who know me can attest to this) there is no certification for CRA Officers. How does this make me feel in the compliance world...not terribly important and yet, I know I am.

I know what I do takes an enormous amount of skill and training, and to be truly successful, a great deal of dedication. I'm not a marketing person, not a lender, not a compliance guru, not an auditor, not the bank's spokesman, not a community activist, not an investment purchaser, not a professional writer....but

I need to be all of that and more to be successful at CRA, not just a smiley face and a good pitch. (Though that helps too). The regulation is complicated, and most larger banks CRA officers handle just the one regulation because of the scope and complexity. Yet...in the compliance world, we're seen as fluff as is apparent by the lack of focus on any sort of programs for certification.

Can you tell I find it a tad bit (vastly) annoying? I'm dang good at what I do and not having the ability to achieve a level of recognition from my peers for my achievements via education and training...isn't terribly nifty.

Rant over I'm happy go lucky again!

It's OK Dawnie, you are now certified to be the "Queen of Duct Tape".

Dawnie, your certification credentials are spelled O-U-T-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G. I'll trade you my CRCM for your CRA rating any time.

Heh Heh Bartman...While I'd agree, the president, and about 40 other people here at the bank like to claim credit for that particular title. I don't often remind them that they weren't here at 3 am preparing for the exam (and cleaning up their stuff)...but occasionally it comes up over martini's when they start to brag

Now then...I didn't mean to stop the entire conversation with my little Rant

I'd get certified (aside from the medical option) if I could in a heart beat! Heck I'd be first in line.

Not a good question to ask during budget process for next year. The reasoning I get is that a commissioned bank examiner doesn't need more initials, it is superfluous and not cost effective. At least that is the story during budget season.

LOL Michelle, thanks...maybe a DCCRAM title could be invented...Dawnie Certified CRA Manager...it sure would cut down on my study time since I'd be able to read the teachers notes before I took the test

I am a Certified Community Bank Compliance Officer (CCBCO) through ICBA, this should count for something I would hope. Continuing Education is a requirement to maintain the certification.
