FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line

Well, I have new occupants in the tree outside my office window this year. Every year for years - a mockingbird family has been raised here. Now I have a pair of doves setting up residence. The female stays in the nest making extensive rennovations to the nest already there. The male flies in with the material for her rennovations. This should be interesting. The dove makes a distinctive sound when it flies in and out of the tree - the mockingbirds were very quiet. The dove has also been know to sit on the outside windowsill and look in at me - guess they were checking out the neighbors!

We have a whole slew of birds that wake up at 3:30 am... My hometown is a "Tree City USA"; lots of birds!

When I worked at a downtown bank in Albany, a pair of mockingbirds would set up residence in a tree right outside of the bank. They would dive-bomb everyone coming into the bank or walking in the alley. The smokers (I was one then) were never bothered - guess they learned who we were because we were out there every morning before the bank opened. We saw some interesting reactions to the attacks though!

We have robins on our front porch at home and they are almost ready to take flight. I just love spring; however I wish the temperature wasn't as high as it is right now. Going from cold to hot with no warm in the middle.

Mockingbirds can really tick me off.
What with their telling me my shirt is too wrinkled or there's toilet paper stuck to my shoe.
I mean c'mon, leave me alone birds!

We have a couple of birds making a real mess on our deck and one side window. We have tried everything.
And speaking of spring-we have gone right into summer. It has been in the middle to upper 80s here and that is July weather not April. But I am not complaining!!!!

I get up earlier than the birds so they don't wake me in the mornings. However, I have this manic woodpecker at home who needs to be reminded of the "wood" in woodpecker! He hammers the metal part of my security light in the back yard! What bugs does he think live in metal? Highly entertaining!
Yesterday, I was sitting on the patio enjoying the breezy, sunny afternoon when a female cardinal flew up and sat on the lowest branch of the crepe myrtle tree giving me shade! She was about 3 feet away - I was afraid to breath for fear I would scare her away!
I love birds and birdwatching! Kid wonder and I have several bird feeders in the yard and some bushes we're afraid to trim for fear we would scare the nesting birds away.

Hubby & I watched a bird build her nest in a tree outside the window Sunday before last and was so much fun to watch. Missed the entire meeting we were at. Puppy thinks the birds, rabbits, etc that are out in the morning are wonderful!

You're better off than me. I get woken up every morning with the sun, and the redheaded woodpecker that has taken a liking to the bugs in a tree close by my property. RAT TAT TAT TAT TAT TAT 12 hours a day! At least you don't have a next door neighbor with roosters. As a bonus - the coop is only about 30 yards from my bedroom window. We're having a lovely spring here. If I could figure out a way to keep the swarms of gnats away, it would be perfect!

My folks have a woodpecker that prefers their "Trex" deck instead of real wood. Poor little fella goes to town and gets nowhere fast! It's as entertaining as waldensouth's winged friend that prefers metal!

Well....we have three windows here in the Compliance Department. The windows are big but they're up high. So if I actually want to see something, I have to step up on a chair. From my desk, however, I can see the top two floors of the Wells Fargo Bank building.

Tell WF they need to "green" up the top of their building! We're in a small rural town - lots of trees and no really tall buildings.

I know you're not sleeping with your windows open! PU! You are correct, ma'am. Furthermore, said roosters seem to be confused about their schedule - they routinely go off and about 3:30am. Occasionally my dogs take this as a cue to run outside and bark their heads off. I just roll over and smile.
