One of our branches has reported that customers have started coming in with guns. The customers do have permits to carry.
Do any of you allow this? Do you have signs to prohibit?

I don't think that we have signs prohibiting this but I can not be sure. I do know that at the mall closest to me, they have a sign that prohibits this. Whether or not that is allowed by state or federal law, I do not know.

You'll need to check the statute that covers the CCP - usually those codes indicate that there are certain places where the CCP does not give them the right to carry their weapon - such a government buildings, libraries, banks, etc....

I believe that, in most states, the law doesn't expressly disallow this. But, you have the right to post signs and demand compliance to your bank's policy.

Go to the links and read up. The bigger issue at hand are the folks into the "Open Carry" movement. The goal of some of these individuals is to bring attention to their cause through your industry.

A bank is perfect for their protest because they know if they go into a branch carrying a firearm there's a good chance the police will be called, a big issue will be made and they can be the victim. They might even have people in place to film the interaction when the police arrive and so on.

Gun owner rights is a major topic of discussion. Open carry is not right for all places in this country but certainly is in many areas. State rule should prevail. I might add that even if my state had a open carry law I would probably opt to carry concealed.

I may be naive here, but the way that I see it is nobody intent on robbing a bank is going to have a weapon that can be detected in any way. Your question title mentions concealed weapons so I do not know how it became known that the customers were packing. If I knew that one of my customers had a weapon, I would not necessarily feel threatened. My concern would be this person acting like a hero during a robbery and making a situation worse. Although, someone with proper training and a cool head can keep a crazed robber from killing someone despite teller cooperation.
