Does anyone use any other kind of software for your HMDA data other than the FFIEC's program? If so, what is the name of it and how do you like it?

Thanks

We have used Questsoft's HMDA Relief program for years. It meets our needs and is very affordable.

Can you get reports from it that will help you monitor for fair lending problems? I just want to be able to use the HMDA information for our advantage and to help us catch discretions of any kind.

Thanks for your responses!!

HMDA RELIEF has all of the fields needed to conduct a fair lending review and all are included free with the base price of the program. The program offers reports on rate spread and ethnicity/race/sex analysis to help with initial analysis. QuestSoft currently works with fair lending analysis companies such as GeoDataVision which does a very good job for most banks who like a helping hand in basic analysis, and Compliance Technologies which is excellent and highly respected for its comprehensive reviews and help with analyzing high level fair lending issues. We have a number of enhancements planned to expand these reports this year so if you don't see everything you need, it's a great time to let us know what you want.

The biggest issue is usually if the loan origination software is exporting the fields so you can perform the analysis. Our company worked very hard with over 50 mortgage software vendors this last summer to add the export of all of the fair lending fields as they made changes to the rate spread field exports for HPML compliance. If you contact us at 800-575-4632, we can let you know if your LOS software is currently exporting or work with them to get that information for your analysis.

Hope this helped.

Excel pivot tables are free and work quite well for analysing HMDA data and putting it in charts or graphs or whatever you need. BOL's Andy Z wrote a two part article on it for ABA magazine in the Dec 2006 & Jan 2007 issues. If you need help setting it up, feel free to pm me.

Thanks for the addition T.R. Our file formats are open in HMDA RELIEF and export to a csv file for reading into Excel. I have often found that since you scrub HMDA data for specific validity and quality errors that the HMDA portion is usually accurate but the extra fair lending data needs to have somewhat the same scrutiny to really be effective. Your suggestion does work well if you are going to allocate the time and not take things initially at face value. It is also great to eliminating surprises before the examiners arrive.
