What song do you never ever get sick of hearing? In fact, if you could you would have it playing right now!
Name the song and the artist. If you are not sure folks will remember it, give us a few lyrics (if it has lyrics).

Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, Blue skys from pain. Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade Your heros for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange A walk on part in the war For a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

Well, just about anything by Electric Light Orchestra from the 1970s, but if I had to pick, I'd say: Do Ya!
elena--the valedictorian of our high school was the biggest Pink Floyd fan. I ran track with him and he was often quoting Pink Floyd--not singing, but quoting. However, I turned him on to Electric Light Orchestra--he did not think much of them before I loaned him a couple of albums. Most only know them for their hits, but their early work is a little off center like the Floyd.

Z- I have a feeling we would have run with the same crowd had we grown up in the same area. I LOVE ELO. I had a friend who often quoted Cheech and Chong...whoops, that was me...

ELO has never received the respect they so richly deserved.
I just (legally) downloaded Fire on High the other day. Tasty!

Fire & Rain by James Taylor. Actually, just about anything by JT - unless he decides to do a cover of "Santa Baby"...

My current favorite song to sing at the top of my lungs is Misfits from Rudolph... I am just a Misfit, I am not a Nitwit. They can't fire me, I QUIT.... It was especially satisfying to sing as I was packing up my cube at the last job.

Milt, I'm not suggesting that I like the song for its artistic merit- I agree that it's kinda dorky. It's the event that triggers the singing that makes me want to hear it often.

Are we negative or what? Only 17 posts so far on the "song I love to hear" thread, but nearly 60 on the "song I hate" thread. Hmmmm!

Pam, you just reminded me...I Love the song MY GIRL...I still sing it to Tessa! (even though she thinks it's corny to have your mom sing to you at 13, sometimes she will snuggle up close and ask me to sing it to her).

"Glory, Glory to Ole Georgia" is a song I love to hear. I too like "Clocks" by Coldplay. "Trouble" is another good song by them. One of my favorite tunes is "Three Views of a Secret" by Jaco Pastorius (jazz). Very beautiful.
