Shopping for Christmas/Birthday/etc is interesting, to say the least.

Serve them a glass of water, filtered to remove all "Living" organisms that may be in it.
Then enjoy your real meal.

Vegan sausages
1 can pinto beans, drained and rinsed 1 C vegetable broth 1 T olive oil 1 T soy sauce 2 cloves garlic, finely minced (I use a Microplane) 1 1/4 C vital wheat gluten * 1/2 C nutritional yeast * 1 t each red pepper flakes, sweet paprika, dried oregano 1 1/2 T fennel seeds, lightly crushed
Start a steamer basket to medium. Prepare six squares of foil.
Mash beans either with a potato masher or process in a food mill until there are no whole beans. Measure broth then add oil, soy sauce, garlic and spices. Blend into beans until smooth. Add nutitional yeast and combine. Mix in vital wheat gluten until a firm dough is achieved. You may have to add more, by the tablespoon. Split into six equal amounts, slightly elongating each piece. Roll up in foil while forming in to sausage links. Twist ends of foil to secure. Steam 45-60 minutes until firm. I find these are better after they have been in the fridge overnight.
Taco "meat"
1 C textured vegetable protein * 1 C scant boiling vegetable broth 1 12oz can tomato sauce 1 T chili powder 1/2 T ground cumin 1 T Mexican oregano 1/2 T crushed red pepper flakes 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 t sugar fresh cracked black pepper salt, to taste
Place textured vegetable protein in a heat prof bowl and pour boiling broth over. Top with inverted plate and let sit for 10 minutes. In a sauce pan, combine the remaining ingredients and simmer for 10 minutes. Add TVP and cook another 10 minutes.
Soyrizo
1 lb firm tofu 3 large dried ancho chiles 4 garlic cloves 1 T oregano 2 t mild paprika 1 1/2 t cumin seeds 1 t sea salt 1/8 t dried red pepper flakes 4 whole cloves 1/2 inch piece cinnamon stick 2 T apple cider vinegar 3 T peanut butter 1 1/4 C vegetable stock
Press the tofu; slice the block of tofu into 1/2 inch slices, and lay them out on a clean dish towel. Cover with another clean towel, and place a large baking sheet on top. Weight the sheet down with a large can or two, and leave tofu to drain for an hour. Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Tear the chiles into large pieces, discarding the stems and most of the seeds. Toast the chile pieces in the hot skillet, pressing down on them occasionally. They will blister and turn a lighter shade. When the chiles are toasted, place them in a food processor along with the garlic, oregano, paprika, cumin seeds, salt, pepper flakes, cloves, and cinnamon stick. Process until this is all finely ground. Add the vinegar, peanut butter and 1/4 cup of the vegetable stock and process until smooth. Add the rest of the vegetable stock. Transfer this mixture to a saucepan, and place over medium high heat. Crumble the drained tofu into the saucy mixture and turn the heat down to medium low. Cook over medium low heat until fairly dry and crumbly looking, at least 20 minutes. Stir frequently, this can stick.
Use immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
* These items I pick up at Sprouts and they aren't very expensive.

What's wrong with cotton?

Cotton is ok, but EGB asked about shoes. She uses anything that does not come from a living being. Of course, it doesn't matter how much oil she wastes with synthetics.

Cotton screams when you pull the bolls off the plant. This made me LOLoaf!
They are just messed up in the head. They need to be set down and forced to eat a BK double whopper, a KFC double down and a Long John Siver Seafood sampler. And made to love it.
While this made me gag a little, and I am NOT a vegan. Not leather.
She is getting rid of all of her Burberry, and Coach, etc.
In the spirit of offering her my full support, I will happily take these things off her hands and ensure they make it to a good, loving home.

This made me think about an episode of 'Third Rock from the Sun' when Dick hits a squirrel/chipmunk and wants to get rid of all meat and leather in the house. Sally tries to hide one pair of leather heels.
