Can we place the following on tag on our Cashier Check's and Bank Money Orders - "Not valid after 180 days from check date"?

You would have to check State law, but it most States it would not be allowed.

Cashier's checks and money orders are liabilities of the bank. What would the bank plan to do with the funds - take them into income or return them to the purchaser at the end of 180 days?

Like Randy mentioned check state law, but they probably more governed by the escheat laws of your state.

That's what we thought but we have stumbled and I'm trying to come up with a solution that keeps us from stumbling again. Thanks!
