Hello,

We have a individual that is in the entertainment business that uses a stage name. However, he doesn't want his legal name printed on his checks. Other than advising the client to consider putting his accounts in a trust and using the trust name on his checks, does anyone know any other options. Possibly making using an LLC?

Thanks,

I'm thinking he can put whatever name he wants on his checks. Checks are not the contract with the bank. What you should be concerned about is how you contract (signature card) is titled.

DBA would work.

Check your state law when it comes to what is allowed on checks.

Agree you would need to check state law on DBA. In my state, you have to file for DBA status to use it. Is his stage name a legal entity of any kind?
