Do you ever have one of those days where you just want to walk in to your boss and say...I QUIT!!
I'm having one of those days today. I have a million regulations to research, marketing people that do whatever they feel like doing that day without any regard to me feeling like I am about to have a nervous breakdown, a teenager who hates me right now, I'm having a "fat" day, my head hurts, and I'm pretty sure the girl in the office next to me is trying to take my job...I'm about to say, "you know what, you can have it!"
How do keep your sanity in this insane compliance world?
Somebody PLEASE make me feel better. Make me laugh or SOMETHING!!!

Go find an unsuspecting Loan Officer and take your frustration out on them. It's what works for me. That sounds like fun. What's your favorite...

When I'm feeling blue, I usually google funny cat memes. After about 20 minutes I'm in tears from laughing so hard. Here's a good one to start: http://t.qkme.me/Cej.jpgI love Business Cat.

On a positive note you didn't mention having a bad hair day on top of it!

My favorite is the Commercial Lender that tries to make ALL his loans fit the commercial mold. He usually seems to know when I need a whipping boy though and seeks me out. LOL

I totally feel your pain. My husband had surgery on Friday (BTW - he is a lender) and won't do what he's supposed to do. Since he's not in pain he thinks he knows more than the orthopedic specialist that spent a lot of time fixing numerous issues in his left shoulder. Work isn't fun any more, etc. I'm ready to move to the Smoky Mountains!!!
although I'm having a GREAT hair day <grin>.

I bite the heads off of gummy bears. Then leave their headless little bodies sitting in a row. If no gummy bears are available, I will bite the heads and legs off of animal crackers. It helps.

Its not all she bites the heads off of!! Thinks of it like this, if it were not for the exceptionally ignorant you would have no job. Your job is to point and document, their ignorance. It is managements job approve or disapprove of said ignorance. Now, go crawl up on the boardroom table and do pushups.

Thanks everyone! You made me feel SO much better!! Now to go and write a procedure on how to combat bitterness in the compliance role...
Be it resolved that when the going gets tough, the tough begin biting the heads off lenders, while doing push-ups on the Board table, while watching Business Cat memes on the big screen and pouring liquor-filled gummy bear heads down their throats.
There, that should do the trick. :-)

You could also write you congressman in reference to something in Dodd/Frank and blast him/her. It should not be to difficult to find someting.

Do you ever have one of those days where you just want to walk in to your boss and say...I QUIT!! Probably at least three days a week lately. But three things stop me from going nuclear: 1) God put me here for a reason, even if it's only to build my character. 2) There are some people here whom I respect, and I would be letting them down if I did quit. 3) At my age, finding a job isn't easy at all.

But what if by staying, I fail the company...what if I can't juggle all this stuff and they won't listen when I say I need help?!? What if my boss really doesn't like me and is setting me up to fail, what if all the little banks go out of business because of Dodd-Frank, what if someone realizes that I'm totally lost in all these regulations and my worst fears are realized? - FAILURE Now I know why my brain hurts so much by the end of the day. I am worrying too much...but how do you stop?

All of those things + I am the only source of income for my daughter and I. If it were just me - I probably would have been long gone.

I agree that we are all in a bit of a muddle right now. Take a deep breath, make a list of items by prioritizing them. And work on them one at a time. It gives me great pleasure to cross things off the list.

I so totally feel that way, that last week I DID resign and am now just working out my notice. I'm the primary wage-earner in my family, but fortunately my husband is being very supportive. (Of course, a few months from now I might be kicking myself!)
If anyone needs me, I'll be in the bar!
