We you have a Rep. Payee who wants to open a checking account. They have the check from SS that clearly shows their name as Rep. Payee for John Doe.

Would you require the letter from SS appointing them as Rep Payee or is the check sufficient proof?

We accept the check itself as evidence that SSA has appointed the Rep Payee.
