Pulling people out of the ditc...

I need some ideas for how a father could commemorate his two kids. I have extra copies of the first son's footprints that were designed to be the basis of a tattoo, but the wife is not up with that idea. What do you have/have you seen to honor children? I have photos of mine on my desk at work...my wife has a charm bracelet that has various charms, such as their initials, sports they've played, etc.

A good friend did this with the positive space in black ink and the negative in pink and plue ink (Two kids: one girl, one boy). I though he had lost his mind.... It came out great!! It on his shoulder blade and is one of the better tat's Ive seen. I have also seen the Kanji signs for son (or daughter).

I found a picture of a tattoo that I really like. It is an outline of a bird with the phrase "she flies with her own wings" used as the outline for the bird's wings. It's pretty cool. Adding it to the list of possibilities! that sounds pretty cool. I was thinking something bird-ish or phoenix for my next but in an abstract kind of way. I've started a file just from Pinterest of ideas. I found a bunch on Pinterest that I like. Hummingbirds, song birds and quite a few phoenix. I saw a picture of a tattoo of a dogs paw that looked so realistic! I want that somewhere too. Obviously using my own dog as the model. It was so cool looking.

I saw someone do their kids with their birth EKG...around their forearm...it was actually pretty cool!
Please note...anytime you place a circular tattoo around anything (arm/leg) leave an opening.

circular body parts tend to shrink over time and also get that paper thin wrinkly look.... that's what she said!!! Alternatively, you can use the George Costanza cold water excuse...

I tried to see if I could post a picture, but couldn't figure it out..
I got an infinity symbol that has "love" written as part of one of the loops. Very clean and classy looking (if a tattoo can be classy?) It is on my left wrist. Very happy with it!
My mother in law thought I had a string on my arm and tried to pick it up... too funny!

When I got my first tattoo (at about 40 yrs old) my husband (who has 5) said I would always be wanting and dreaming of the next one. He's right!
I will never be covered or have a ton, but I do think about the next one.... Don't get in here much these days but this caught my attention. My son, who has a number of tattoos, told me the same thing when I got my first one. I told him No Way - - I now have 3 and know what I want when I retire (please can't I retire soooooooon) The first one was a butterfly on the right shoulder but bugged me that I couldn't see it so I got another butterfly on the inside of my right ankle. Then a few years after my breast cancer treatment I got a pink ribbon just above that boob (need that one pinked up a bit more next time I'm in Pittsburgh), my bil is a tattoo artist so he does them for me Funny story, when I was going through breast cancer treatment I saw one of the other doctors in the practice for one of my checkups and chemo treatment. She didn't know me at all and when she started the exam and saw the tattoo on the shoulder her comment was - in her lovely british accent - "Oh, you are a bit of a rebel I see"

I like being a bit of a rebel. with tattoos becoming more of the norm, having one no longer classifies one as a rebel... There is a local tattoo guy that advertises his work is body art...his advertising states "I don't to barb wire, smiley faces, tramp stamps, and don't even think of asking me to write poetry or statements on your body. Have more respoect for yourself."

Love. It!
Although, my son has a barb wire tat around his upper arm that I really like. It was his first tat.
