I do not know how this thread got to an unarmed person (who's car was out of commission) was shooting at police.

I always thought it was odd when people asked "get it" after telling a joke. Now I understand.

I wasn't on site and have not seen the vidoes but from what I read she attempted to run over police, and may have even hit 1. When that happens, their response escalates to the point of they are working to stop the threat at all costs.

Was the threat level diminished at the time of the shooting that they did not need to shoot her? I don't know, and Monday morning quarterbacking when you have the luxury of time always shows that possibly different steps could have been taken.

Had she had a gun and returned fire on the police, it certainly could have been much worse. Obviously the woman had some mental issues, but the police have no knowledge of that while this was taking place.

Amazing that her child was unhurt.

I suppose when Congress can get back to work we will see a new law banning cars, since without one, none of this would have occurred.

I believe the first article written had the term shots fired at Capital or something along those lines. One would logically assume ( I know ...I know) that when that is the title of the article, the civilian and not the police is the person firing the weapon. When it came out that the woman was unarmed, I simply wrote, rumor on the street is that the woman was not armed and all shots fired were from law enforcement.

D.C. police confirmed the driver was shot and killed. Law officials late Thursday said the driver’s black Infiniti was registered to Miriam Carey, a 34-year-old dental hygienist from Stamford, Conn., and that they believe Carey’s 1-year-old daughter was in the car at the time of the incident. One police officer was injured.

Video captured by Alhurra Television shows a driver in a black Infiniti ignoring several police officers with their guns drawn by the Capitol, and then speeding off.

Dine said there’s no information that the incident was related to terrorism.

As far as the question concerning the 2nd amendment, no law should be made based on a small number of isolated incidents, regardless of how horrendous those incidents may be (Columbine, Newtown, Colorado, etc.) There are millions of registered gun owners who have never committed an unlawful act with their firearms.

I have no doubt the recent incident in NYC with the motorcyclists versus the range rover would have had a different outcome if he had been armed.
