Neoprene comes in a vast variety of colors, too. I have it with the saddle I use now.

I have neoprene with the saddle I use now, but I'm just trail riding now. Neoprene comes in so many pretty colors.

Color is not what's important for endurance...comfort is. Neoprene is fantastic for short speed events, but for anything long paced, I would definitely go with natural hair.
1) it breathes 2) it's not as likely to chafe

Is black the absence of color or the mixing of all colors?

I know that color isn't a reason to pick a cinch :), but I have heard that the mohair can pinch and has been known to break...although I know people who have had their mohair cinches for years. Alpaca is softer but not as strong and I guess yak is a bit prickly.

Not a horse person but would a neoprene one be hurtful to the horse if if moves around or do you just tack it on?

Neoprene is a man made product that wears well and is very easy to keep clean, but it doesn't breath and can get very hot for your horse. Some horses are allergic to it. Some people who use it for endurance riding swear by it and say that their horses have no problems with it. It attaches just like any other cinch. My horse is a mare.

The only cinch I can use on my gelding that doesn't leave him with sores is the cheap white and red one from Fleet Farm.

Any girth/cinch that's not properly fitted can gall them. I just know that many ropers and endurance riders will not use neoprene for that reason.
As far as breaking...that just comes from good tack inspections and keeping the sweat cleaned out, etc. Everything will eventually need replacing.

Is black the absence of color or the mixing of all colors? Black is the mixing of all colors and the absence of all light. White is the absence of all colors and the mixing of all light spectrums.

I thought a "cinch" just meant something was easy... You know, it's a cinch!
