In recent years there's been lots of work undone as the world becomes unhinged all over the place. The story of the little Dutch boy trying to stop all the leaks in the dike comes to mind.
Only thing is, we have neither the will nor the leadership to do our part to attempt to stem the tide of events. While the U.S. can't save the world, it has an obligation to contribute to world stability. It's obligation to strive for stability benefits its own citizens as well as the world in general.
