Given world affairs, I don't expect this situation to last.

Still $1.92 here - has come down a few cents in the last week or so.

1.89 here for regular, but I only put in premium in my cars, currently for the sweet price of 2.44!

http://www.texasgasprices.com/Looks like $1.39 is the cheapest in Texas just now. Not conveniently located for the gas tanks of my vehicles.

$1.62 and dropping in Breaux Bridge. Of course the headlines are:
The Lafayette Metropolitan Statistical Area leads the nation in number of jobs lost in the past year.
Over the past year, 4,300 jobs have been cut from Lafayette, Acadia, St. Martin, Iberia and Vermilion parishes.

Oh, don't rub my nose in my age, Happy.
All through high school, I worked at a small grocery store which put in gasoline pumps for its customers use. I had to pump gas in addition to sacking, stocking, and checking groceries. Regular was .28 9/10 and real premium was .32 9/10.

Those were the good old day noel! For a dollar we could drive all night in our jalopies back and forth among the drive-ins, hanging out at the Mcdonald's and A&W root beers.

It was the between the Dairy Twin, situated next door to the Dairy Queen (much to their annoyance) and Mr. Quick and the bowling alley for me. Two bucks worth of premium would allow the 375 horse/440 V8 to terrorize the streets of Burleson,Texas until the late hours.

1.42 in central Illinois! Holy carp! And I can remember stopping at the IA/IL border to fill the tank on the way to the in-laws. Maybe I should be driving to IL for some of that gas. I'm with burkemi. It's still holding just under $2. How old's the turtle? Old enough to remember scheduling the gas purchases by the tags on the car. And then moving all of the gas to my dad's vehicle.

.65/gallon when I started driving in 1977 in my 1977 Camaro Rally Sport with 350 4 BBL engine! Made $5.00/hr driving a school bus, roughly $50/week, so I had money to burn!

To put that in perspective, that 65 cents in '77 is $2.55 today. Your $5 an hour is $19.58. Seems like wages haven't kept up. http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl

With our state gas tax of $.50 per gallon, I doubt we will ever see under $2 a gallon. Currently $2.25. What is frustrating is that, in the town where I live, gas is generally $.05 to $.20 per gallon more than towns 30-60 minutes away. It is really puzzling to me that one town where we have a branch office is also home to a large refinery and gas in that town is more expensive. They literally drive the trucks out of the refinery across the street to the gas station!
Gas was $.70 - $.80 per gallon when I started driving.
