29 Female BS in History (and I'm in banking?!?!) approx. 4 yrs banking (accounting, loans) 1 yr audit/compliance department staff position $25,750 1 week vacation, 10 sick days, no personal great benefits Rural South Central US Asset size approx. 250 million Females in this area are greatly underpaid than their male counterparts. A few months after I joined this department a male was hired with a starting salary above mine. I have more experience in banking and have an age advantage. At least you would think! The South is a wonderful place to live but don't count on getting an equivalent assessment. I was not raised with that mentality so its hard to adjust. Oh, I grew up in the South!

What is an "age advantage"?

As an aside, is $31K a livable wage for anyone in the banking field? Hopefully, you also get a clothing allowance or, perhaps, you only work three days a week.
Why do say that?

That may be "the job" - if it were not in the Western US. I would rather make my $50M and have 2200 sq ft home on 5 acres with a $275 house payment - in the South!
You have to remember all things are NOT equal.

It's amazing, I was just about ready to post the same question. I've been getting calls from head-hunters, and was curious as to if I am working too cheap at my current location. 6 years at same bank 4 years of that has been being the banks sole Internal Auditor 104 milion asset size (I work part time, so this is prorated) 3 weeks vacation 6 hrs sick time monthly $13.14/ hour which would be the equivilent of about $27,000 if I were full time. Free Dental 401K with 3% bank match bank located in South Dakota

The male in KY says "Ditto." I'm also very happy in my job and relatively stress-free compared to other positions I've held (branch manager, etc.).

Well, after looking at all of this info, I don't know if I should be happy with what I get or if I should ask for a raise! It is interesting to see these statistics.
