I know we should review ads for compliance and look at actual versus budgeted expenses related to marketing but was looking for additional audit steps or procedures. I am also interested in any available auditing package that can assist in this regard, particularly those related to marketing/sales of credit related products i.e overdrafts/loans/mortgages.

Have you checked out the "Advertising Checklist" in BOL Banker's Tools section? I have found it very helpful. Also there is a great signage checklist in the Tools.

I'm in marketing not compliance (thank goodness!) so I'm sure there is a lot more to it than that, but it might be a place to start.
