A customer wants to dispute a hotel charge on her debit card from one of the online booking services. Per the customer she paid cash when she checked out of the hotel, and states she has a receipt showing this but so far has not brought in the receipt. What are my options under Reg E and Visa? Thanks.

Investigate it. Ensure this is a charge to the deposit account and not a hold first.

Then inquire with the hotel as to the manner of payment and the amount owed. If the hotel says it was paid via debit card and that is the only payment tendered or was required to satisfy the bill, I'd say it's an argument over costs between the consumer and hotel.

The customer authorized it, received benefit and actually did it - it's not a valid claim.
