Would anyone be willing to share what you require to open an account for a resident alien? Anything other than a government issued photo ID? Would you accept a "work authorization" that will expire at the end of the year? I was at a BSA seminar and the speaker suggested to ask " in what country are you a citizen"? and if they're a "permanent resident". If I have someone say that they're a permanent resident, do I need to require the "permanent resident" card to prove it? Just not sure how far I need to go to verify that they truly are a RA and not NRA which we don't bank at this time.

An RA has a green card. The green card is proof of residency. They would not have a Visa or any other sort of work permit.

So...if the customer gave me an "employment authorization" and a TIN that states "valid for work only", would this be enough proof that he is a "permanent resident"?

No - a permanent resident alien has a green card and has a Social Security Number and does not need a work permit or work authorization.
