What are most of your doing now as far as auditing CIP? Do you check behind CSRs and Loan Personnel to make sure every account opened for a new customer has the correct CIP info. Or do you just do a periodic audit to see if they are getting all the info. for CIP?

we are a small community bank but all of our new accounts paperwork is reviewed by deposit operations. They review for CIP info, ensure the account is set up correctly in the core system, ensure we have all the required signatures and paperwork etc.

We too are a small community bank. We have a Compliance & File Maintenance Clerk who reports to me (deposit compliance officer) who reviews all new accounts and all account maintenance. She reviews for CIP, that we receive all account documents, account docs are completed correctly and signed, and that we receive all additional documentation we might need. She also verifies everything is set up in our core system correctly.

She verifies this against a file maintenance report that is we can pull from our core system.

Has anyone every had an examiner find a piece of CIP missing? If so, was it just a recommendation to have more training or what was it a violation?

What is a "piece of CIP missing"? You mean one piece in a sample of X? Typically, examiners are looking for pattern and practices.

What I meant by "piece of CIP missing" is maybe a CSR failed to get someone's date of birth or physical address, etc. I guess to keep from it looking like a pattern someone needs to review each new customer's CIP information. I was just thinking it would be easier if we just did a periodic audit instead of having to check each one. Lol

Does your core support producing reports that can be exported to Excel? Any gaps in required information could be quickly identified with a periodic report that shows a blank field. Also, some cores support mandatory input fields so that a new account representative cannot get past an input screen until all required fields are completed.

We use COCC/Fiserve as our core and we do have a report that can be reviewed daily for missing CIP information.

We built a report based on our core system- Fiserv Integrated Teller and it shows us what is missing also.
