Hi!
Can anyone help me with this? The Government isn't being too helpful (as if I actually thought they would be!). When a person on Social Security, or any other Gov't income, dies, which payment is SSI going to reclaim - if any? Do they have to be alive when the payment hits their account (ACH)for the account to be able to keep it, or be alive so long after the the credit is posted? I'm trying to figure it out, but I keep getting conflicting information. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

It's been awhile but we always went with alive when it hits the account. I'm sure someone will pop in with the official word soon.

The customer must be alive on the day of the payment. Some times the issue arises when the surviving account holder believes that SSA payement is for the month prior to the payment, (when the person was alive) when actually the payment is for the upcoming month.
