I read an article this morning about a local University class that attempted a "media deprivation" experiment. Most students didn't last 4 days without cheating.
Could you?

I need my TV and a radio... other than that I can go a week if I had to... (although I might go through BOL withdrawls...)

I know I am one of MANY, but I can't go anywhere without my cell phone. I know I know, I am a cell phone addict. If it gets left somewhere then I tend to freak out.

I could live without my MP3 player, but only by having a CD player for airplane travel (does that count?). I think I could live without my guitar... for about 2 seconds!

I could leave TV behind for a week or so, but I would have to have it back.

I could leave TV and radio behind since I can get most of those fixes from the internet. But I NEED my internet. I'm also attached to my cell phone. It is never off. It's not like I get a bunch of calls though. It's more like "just in case someone needs to get a hold of me"

Sorry...I didn't realize the poll would turn off I'm not very familiar with using that feature. It's only been within the last year or so that I started using an MP3 (Christmas gift from a friend) and cell phone. I use Internet and e-mail services more for work than at home (still have dial-up ). I would find it difficult to live without Radio or TV.

I forgot my cell phone yesterday and managed to live without it, but that was just one day Internet connection at home has been down for 24 hours and that really, really bothers me!! That really feels like my connection with family etc. I guess I could live without TV but I would miss a radio, don't own an MP3 so I need a radio!!!

I have not had a cell phone is over six months...realize I really do not need it most of the time.
When I changed positions, I lost my free cell phone...there was not a feeling that i would get many emergency compliance issues that they needed to reach me at all hours.
I have never paid for a cell phone before, work has always paid for mine, and now I refuse to pay for my own...it is actually kinda nice people not having total access to you.

I guess I'm the only one who needs all? You're such a geek I am curious, though, why you feel the need? (not meaning to attack you--just an honest question)

Here's some irony, I'm an IT person by profession and I could easily live without all of them. Of course there is the matter that I don't even have/use most of those things... Cell phone: never have, hope not to have. Internet: Handy, but my computer at home is used mostly for offline gaming. E-Mail: valuable, but not necessary. i/pod: don't have one. TV: have one, but it only plays what's on the VCR/DVD. Radio: don't listen to it personally. Now take away my computer and Nintendo 64 and I might have a problem.

I am curious, though, why you feel the need? (not meaning to attack you--just an honest question) Well, I guess it depends on what I mean by need. I suppose I don't really need any of these to live. I do, however, use all of these every day. I suppose if I was forced to give any up, I'd give up my cell phone and the TV -- assuming I could still go the movie theater!

I need all of it.
This is America, where we get what we want, when we want it and a lot of it.
God Bless this wonderful country.

I remember reading an interesting article last month in USA Today about 'tech-nos'--people who reject all of the gadgets most people are so attached to these days (cellphones, blackberries, iPods, e-mail, etc.) They profiled several individuals, and it was nice to see how they all were able to be successful without being dependent on technology. I'd share a link, but you have to pay a fee to read USA Today online

Becka, I don't doubt that I could be successful without the technology, but I *like* the new fangled technology. If the tech-nos want to reject the gadgets, then more power to 'em, so long as they don't look down on us tech-yeses because we don't feel the same way they do.
