Does anyone use some sort of ID badges within branches to identify people within the Bank who are not Bank employees. For example, the water guy, electricians, examiners, auditors, etc.

For us, if they are onsite regularly, they are issued a different colored badge than employees.

In some locations, but not all, we issue badges to visitors. It depends on the size of the location and the risk involved.

We make all guests (servicemen , water guys , coffe guys etc...) report to the receptionist area and they are issued a name badge and have to sign in. They are then told to please sign out and give the name badge back when they leave. This has helped us out tremendously with unauthorized people going into areas they shouldnt be in.

We are going through and eval of sort regarding our badges. What if an employee lost their badge and has not realized that he or she has lost said badge? Say then unsavory character "X" picks up badge and looks at it. Ahhh it has the company name and the employee full name on the badge.

Long story short we are looking at removing the company name from our access badges in the event an employee has misplaced and someone picks up. That may help prevent unauthorized persons from entering the building/facility.

To answer the question - yes we have specific vendor badges for each of our approved list of vendors.

We don't have anything on our badges that associates it with our bank. We have names and photos on employee (and certain vendor) badges. These are card keys that are programmed to work (as appropriate) with door card readers. There is an address on the card asking the finder to return the card by mail if it is lost.

We also have cards without names and photos for examiners, auditors, vendors to use if they'll be onsite for a few days. These give them access to appropriate areas during the day and allows them to come and go without checking in at the security station. We get them back at the end of their engagement.

If someone is going to be here for a meeting or just for the day, they must sign in at a security station and are issued a plastic holder clip to use with their business card. The person they are visiting is responsible for checking them in and escorting them back to the security station for sign-out when they leave.

It's a bit of "security by obscurity" and for badges, it is a good idea not to have the company name on them.

Our badges are just name and picture, and FTEs' badges are a different color than contractors or visitors. I don't know that the differentiation is actually useful, but that decision predates me by several years.

We have picture ID and the company name. To enter a building you swipe the card and your picture shows on a screen that the security guard will see. If you do not match the picture you are stopped.

We also have picture ID with NO company name and we swipe the card and our picture shows on a screen that the security people can view.
