I asked Mary Beth to take my picture with Andy so I could prove I REALLY met him!! He was a most gracious winner - and the award is well deserved! Bravo Andy!

Thats funny BC. I wanted a picture so I could show I met you!

Thank you all. I am very pleased to be this year's recipient and associated with the group of prior recipients. (I'm not sure I like the term "won" since it isn't a contest. But recognition from one's peers is very meaningful and appreciated.) I still say "I'm not worthy" to them.

Congrats to you, Andy!! Your achievements are a team effort and we salute the whole team! Many thanks to your wife and kids for their support. Give them all a big hug from the nationwide community of compliance professionals. Awards like this acknowledge your willingness to contribute both your time and talents to others who attend ABA's schools, seminars, and conferences, and read ABA's publications. Time for these activities comes in large part from your personal life, not your work day.

Excellence and leadership ARE attainable in our profession. Thanks for setting a great example for younger bankers who may be thinking "I could never do that." They can be future recipients of awards of excellence by following your example: work hard, ask questions, take chances and share your time and talents with others.

Exactly, couldn't have been said any better!

I got a special kick out of creating the fake card below, since I don't drive.

Did anyone else notice this in Mary Beth's Blog. All that great information and this is what catches my eye.

P.S. Mary Beth: If it is a medical thingy, my apologies for teasing you.

Zaibatsu,

It is not a medical thing. It's a quirk. Never wanted to drive. The longer I was able to do without it, the less I had any inclination to do it. At my age, it's been a couple of decades since I could have begun driving. At this point, why bother?

So, do you walk every where? Ride a bike? Hitch a ride? Skateboard? Scooter? (The possibilities are endless....maybe that's what we should have a contest on: How does MB get to work??!)

If I'm not mistaken, she just goes from one room to another. Is that not right, Mary Beth? I remember once in a seminar that you actually e-mailed Michael because you had something to tell him and he was just downstairs on his computer - or something like that. Oh, if we all could go to work in our jammies!!!

Can anyone in compliance ever really escape the job?
