I happened to find me a great spot for hunting these tasty mushrooms last night. The only problem is, I appear to have stumbled upon a spot so rich with Morels, that I don't know quite what to do.
Does anyone have any tips on storing them. I don't plan on cooking them until ready, so I would prefer to not cook and then store. Tips needed, thanks.

Does anyone have any tips on storing them. I don't plan on cooking them until ready, so I would prefer to not cook and then store. Tips needed, thanks. Place them in a damp (not soaking wet) paper towel and put in an open plastic bag in the fridge... check on them to make sure they are not drying out. Alternatively, you can dry them in the nuker or saute them and freeze them.

What kind of mushrooms are these? I love cooked mushrooms.
Does anyone have a recipe for good, thick, Cream of Mushroom soup?

I just rinse them off, and run my fingers through them and in the pores. Honestly, I end up breaking one every now and then, I end up breaking one a bit, but it seems to work well.

How does one get them clean, really clean?
We found them along my dad's field but I just never feel like they are clean enough...Natalie LOVES them. All summer last year she kept asking for more of Papa's funny looking Morel-rooms. I told her we only get the free ones from Papa, mommy can't spend the $20 a pound. Becca, This came from chowhound.com: Morel mushrooms need a bit of care before cooking. All their pores can harbor critters, says monavano, so soak them in salt water for 5 to 10 minutes to kill anything hiding inside.

OK clean tehm really well and then lay them out on cookie sheets lines with wax paper. Put then in the freezer until frozen and then you can take them off the cookie sheet and put them in freezer bags and they save very weell.

My husband just cleans his and freezes them as KMS indicated above. I don't eat them so I cannnot vouch for how they test when they are thawed but he says they are fine.
