She may have changed her name with the Social Security Administration and not received her new card yet. If that's the case, you should go ahead. But if she has not yet changed her name with SSA, I'd recommend going to a compromise position -- in the form SALLY MAIDEN MARRIED with her entire former name included. That will prevent any name/TIN mismatch problems.
If the account isn't interest-bearing, you can change the name without worrying about what's on file with SSA.
