Advertising CD specials on social media

Answered by:

Question:
We are promoting a CD special on social media. The Reg DD advertising disclosures are a drag. Must we include them? Can’t we say something like “call us for details”?
Answer:

Ah, CD specials – they are everywhere these days. Social media is a good place to promote your CDs, but Reg DD’s special simplified advertising rules for TV or radio do NOT apply to social media. If you include a triggering term in your ad (i.e. the rate, APY, or a bonus), then you must include the full round of Reg DD disclosures. But good news! They may be “one-click-away”—so long as it truly only takes one click to see all required disclosures. (Side note, Member FDIC cannot be one click away – it has to be there in the ad.)
