Jason Castro.... I love this kid, but while the judges raved about the performance, I thought it was a butchering of the song.
Ditto!

I don't know their names, but I only liked two performances last night. 1. The 17 year old kid who did the Phil Collins song. 2. The guy who did the Lionel Ritchie song. I couldn't believe it when Simon liked that guy's peformance of the Leonard Cohen classic, "Hallelujah." I thought he butchered it. Simon said it was one of his favorite songs, so I guess the lesson here is to find out his favorite songs and do those. P.S. Does it bother anyone else how Simon keeps his hand on the back of Paula's chair. Do you think he does it to signal her that she's starting to weird out? If so, it didn't work last night. Wow!

you may be on to something Bugs!
Paula acted as if she had been in the sauce prior to the cameras rolling

I think they were ALL in the sauce tonite - what was up with that? The last singer got very few comments, because too much time had been taken up w/the judges being stupid.
The girls weren't as strong as the guys, but did ok. Rocker Nurse did much better but I think it's going to be Carly. She and the rocker guy will probably be the final two.

Amanda did do "fine" last night. They all did fine last night, up until the last two. Brooke was amazing. When they said she was going to do Pat Benetar, I cringed. BUT, she made it her own and gave it a whole new sound. I downloaded it. And Syesha nailed that song. I'm sure they gave her more comments after closing the show and apologized for the lack of time.
In my opinion, the two to go home tonight should be of the three following contestants: Asia'h, Amanda, and Kady.
Asia'h just isn't in the category of the other girls. She's good, but I'm not sure she will ever be GREAT.
Amanda is a one trick pony. She's not going to grow in the competition, or give us anything new. She's going to go up on stage and be a poor man's recollection of Janis Joplin. It will be the same every week, and frankly, one of the things I like about this show is watching people grow and get better.
Kady did better last night, but she's just not ready.

I got really irritated last night with all of the judges rambling on and 'in' jokes. No one cares if you crack each other up, guys.
My husband asked if they had 'wrap it up' music on Idol now like they do on awards shows because of Paulas endless blithering on and on and on....
Anyways...Kady Malloy and Kristy Lee Cook are my two choices to go. Carly and Brooke were my favorites last night. Sayesha was pretty good (why does she slow down every song she sings?), Asia'h and Remiele were both okay. Amanda was a ton better last night, but I fear she will crash again the second she has to really SING a song.

And OH MY, is Amanda's fiance SMOKING hot or what?
Um, YEAH!! I was kinda shocked, actually... I'll agree to throw her a few votes if they promise to show him more every week

I think the girls are better as a group than the guys, I really enjoyed Brooke and the BOL anthem "love is a battlefield"

I thought Brooke was really good last night, but my favorite of the night was Kristi Lee Cook. I am really missing some contestants with that "country" thing going on. . .possibly because I listen to country music almost exclusively.

As a GROUP, the girls are better than the guys. HOWEVER, as individuals, several of the boys are far and away better than any of the girls. other than Archuleta, which ones Cinci?

David Archuletta and Jason Castro to me are far better than anyone else in the competition, with Carly Smithson, Brooke White, David Cook, and David Hernandez coming into the next tier. After that, they are all about equal until you get down to the bottom tier of the bride of frankenstein Amanda, Kady Malloy, Tranny in Training Noriega, and Luke Menard at the bottom.

I agreed with all four who went home last night. And (sorry Patrice) most of all, was relieved that Danny was gone. He could definitely sing, but I needed to close my eyes to be able to listen to him!
