this right here says it all... The poll also found that Americans blame government officials for the housing crisis more than banks or home buyers and other borrowers. Forty percent of respondents said regulators were mostly to blame, while 28 percent named lenders and 14 percent named borrowers.
Not my fault I borrowed more than I can afford to pay back, but I had to keep up with the Jones

Government housing for everyone. Think they'd foot the bill for a house I saw on MTV cribs?

Government housing for everyone. Think they'd foot the bill for a house I saw on MTV cribs? Yes-all you have to do is buy the house, regardless of your qualifications. Some big, nasty mortgage lender is sure to loan the money to you. Then when you can't make the payments, go to your local TV reporter and tell them you had no clue what you were signing, and by golly, the banker said I could afford it. Then, pray that Obama or Clinton get elected, then just wait for your check.

A CBS-NYT poll gave these numbers? Wow, informative. I bet if you polled ESPN magazine subscribers, a majority of them would say they like sports too.

GuitarDude: This wasn't a poll of CBS viewers or NYT subscribers. They just conducted the poll. It was a scientific survey done by random nationwide sampling. The methodology is explained here: Poll

It is invaluabble, however, if you have an agenda.

I'm sorry, one of the first things they teach you in statistics is that if your sample isn't large enough, it's value is about worthless. 1,368 people is not enough to get the feeling for a single city, yet alone a state, yet alone the entire nation. do you even know the formula to determine how large a sample size must be? i bet they do. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sample_size

Actually, the sample size doesn't make it worthless, just potentially less accurate. Shouldn't posters at least know something about a topic before opining? wink

if your sample isn't large enough From the link I gave on this poll's methodology: "In theory, in 19 cases out of 20, overall results based on such samples will differ by no more than three percentage points in either direction from what would have been obtained by seeking to interview all American adults." A margin of three percent is very accurate for a national poll. You just don't like the results.

I don't think any of us were saying we disagree with the results, I know I wasn't its just a poll, doesn't really tell us much: liberals, conservatives, libertarians, zealots of one stripe or another -- they all may think the country is going to he11 in a handbasket, but for totally different reasons

From the poll:

3/28-4/2/08 Democratic Primary - 43 Republican Primary - 25 Not voting - 25 Never vote(vol.) 1 DK/NA 6 MOPNB: Are you saying you think something is wrong with these numbers? That's a margin of about three D voters in the primaries to every two Rs. That's about what the rate has been throughout the campaign, far more voters in the Democratic primaries and even more so now that there is no real race among Republicans.

81% of Americans Think USA on Wrong Track

I certainly do not like my nation's direction, but for vastly different reasons than a left-wingers angle
