There is pressure from some of our Retail Management to eliminate our Branch Opening procedures. We currently have one associate wait in their vehicle while another goes into the branch and does a complete check. The all clear is given to the waiting associate by actually walking to the waiting vehicle, so if the all clear is not given the waiting associate can depart and summon help. Also, there is some Retail Management talk about eliminating our 15 minute time delay for the Vault. Needless to say, we in the Security Division see these proposed changes as risky. Do you have any thoughts or source materials that might help us illuminate the security risks of these possible operational changes?

We are accepting bids to change our internal security system's cameras and alarms. Is there an industry standard for using CCTV systems?

This question relates to the UL classification (rating) on vaults. We are looking to place some stand alone safe deposit box vaults in some of our branch locations and we were wondering what UL rating is required (TL15 or TL30). Additionally, if you could cite us the regulation covering this requirement, we would be most appreciative.

We are adding cameras in our safe deposit box area. Should we position the cameras to cover the area inside the safe deposit vault or just the outside door? If inside, how do we address the privacy of customers who are accessing their safe deposit boxes?

We had a customer ask us if we wanted to search his briefcase before he made a deposit and entered the safe deposit area. We said "No". We have policy and procedures for the safe deposit box area, but they do not address a search. Because of acts of terror do you have any suggestions for the possibility of searching a customer's belongings such as passing a wand over the bag or satchels before allowing entry into the safe deposit box area. Banks do not know what is kept in a customer's box. What about his privacy? Is this an issue for other banks?

We need to add more Safe Deposit Boxes in one of our branch locations. Since the branch's vault is not big enough for boxes we put the boxes into a vault in a room. Must we put the boxes in a "vault"? We have an abudance of boxes at our Main Office, Can we move these into the branch, without the vault?
